Gaming University in Andhra Pradesh

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) requested Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, to allocate 100 acres of land for the setting up of a gaming digital learning hub. The delegation arrived in the coastal city of Vishakapatnam to sign an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB), on the 4th of July, 2018, in order to establish a learning center that would centered around edutech gaming. UNESCO believes that this is the future of learning, as well as being a lucrative career option for those who were willing to develop the right mix of skills to be able to prosper in this newly emerging sector of the global economy.

Vizag is already the hub of much computer technology related activity with companies such as Microsoft and Samsung looking to set up bases of operations there that are far beyond the earlier scope of customer service call centers. The edutech sector alone was geared to see the creation of over 50,000 new jobs over the next ten years, according to UNESCO, and urged the government to follow through on the vision that the Chief Minister had of turning the state into the hub of knowledge and innovation in the country. The world body also added that the current run of progress in this area could see close to a quarter of the entire market for gaming in the country being dominated by Andhra Pradesh.
