Three Indian Batsmen in Top 5 of ICC ODI Rankings

Following the success of the Indian team in the recently concluded ACC Asia Cup, Rohit Sharma jumped to the second spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) One Day International (ODI) Rankings for Batsmen. Fellow opener Shikhar Dhawan jumped from ninth to fifth position in the rankings on the back of his 342 runs during the tournament, the highest amount of runs accumulated in this edition of the Asia Cup. Sharma had scored 317 runs and moved in behind Virat Kohli who had been rested for the upcoming test matches of the West Indies’ Tour of India that will begin on Thursday, October 4, 2018.

 

Jasprit Bumrah remained in top spot on the Bowler’s rankings, having taken eight wickets in the four games that he had played, sitting out the match against Afghanistan. In terms of the Asia Cup, he was the fourth highest wicket-taker, while Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan moved in to the spot just behind him for his brilliant performance in the tournament. Khan managed to attain the number one spot in the All-rounder’s ranking for his contributions to his team with both ball and bat.

Other movers in the rankings were Kuldeep Yadav, the chinaman bowler who had ten wickets to his name in the tournament and reached the third position in the Bowler’s rankings. Last but certainly not the least, it was Ravindra Jadeja who saw a big jump from 53rd to 39th position in the Bowler’s rankings, having taken seven wickets in four matches.
