Mr JP Nadda to be new President of BJP

New Delhi: Bharathiya Janatha Party working President Jagat Prakash Nadda will officially take over the reins of Amit Shah’s party today when the BJP initiates the process of electing a new party leader.
Mr. Nadda will submit his nomination at 10:30 a.m. In all likelihood, Mr. Nadda will be elected without a vote against.

The BJP is expected to hold a major event at headquarters that will include all of the party’s officials. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Interior Minister Amit Shah are expected to deliver a speech and officially congratulate Mr. Nadda on his appointment.

Sources say that the name of Mr. JP Nadda is suggested by ex-chiefs and members of parliament, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari. The proposal is supported by other members of the BJP National Council.

The full schedule was released in a press release by the chairman of the BJP Central Election Committee, Radha Mohan Singh.

“After successfully completing phase 1 of the BJP accession and expansion offensive, creating 75 percent stand committees, 50 percent mandal committees, and conducting elections in accordance with the BJP constitution in 21 states to elect party presidents, I am pleased that the elections for the Office of President to be announced National President of the BJP, “said Radha Mohan Singh.

The time for submitting the nomination for the office of BJP President is from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The nominations will be checked between 12.30 and 1.30 p.m. The candidature can be withdrawn between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Since Mr. Nadda is probably the only candidate, there may not be a need for coordination that would have taken place on Tuesday.

The BJP is expected to appoint Mr. Nadda as party leader himself today.

Prime Minister Modi and Mr. Shah met high-ranking leaders of the BJP, some members of the National Executive and Parliamentary Committee, prime ministers and former prime ministers in the party office on Sunday. This should officially inform her of Mr. Nadda’s candidacy.

All union ministers were called to the BJP office today to be informed of the electoral process and to discuss Mr. Nadda’s presidency.

Mr. Jagat Prakash Nadda is an old BJP workhorse. From 1993 to 2012, he was a member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (MLA) for three terms.

From 1998 to 2003 he was also minister in the cabinet – from 2008 to 2010 he was minister for health and then for forest, environment and science in the government of Himachal Pradesh.

Mr. Jagat Prakash Nadda moved to Delhi in 2010 and worked closely with central management to embarrass the then UPA government, which was accused of corruption. In April 2012, Mr. Nadda was elected to the Rajya Sabha.

In May 2014, Mr. JP Nadda was part of the Modi government and served as Minister of Health. He got his biggest jump in June 2019 when he was appointed working President of the BJP.

Amit Shah wrote to the prime minister in June, requesting that his party leader be transferred to someone else as he was responsible for being interior minister. Mr. Shah has remained president of the party since June 2019 to meet organizational restructuring commitments.

One of Mr. Nadda’s big challenges is to hold a very difficult Delhi and then elections in Bihar. He is also expected to combine Amit Shah’s and Modi’s legacy at the BJP. It is known that Mr. Nadda has a good working relationship with both Mr. Shah and Prime Minister Modi.

Mr. Nadda has also had strong RSS roots since his time as a student guide with years of organizational experience in the state and in the center.

However, Mr. JP Nadda’s critics believe that his appointment as party leader will not really bring him under control, and Amit Shah will continue to influence the organizational structure of the BJP. The BJP has denied these claims and called it the criticism of a party “that cannot think beyond a family to take the lead”.
