Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has left for Singapore to attend the World Cities Summit scheduled to begin tomorrow, on a three-day visit aimed at inviting more investment to the state and its capital city of Amaravati as being the ideal destination for investment, according to a spokesperson in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). A delegation is accompanying the Chief Minister to Singapore, including several bureaucrats and a few ministers.
Chief Minister Naidu will participate in the “Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Embracing the Future through Innovation and Collaboration” forum topic on July 8, and the plenary session on July 9. The forum is the World Cities Summit Mayor’s Forum. There will be a pavilion set up to exhibit the investment potential that the city of Amaravati has to offer, as well as the possibility of encouraging other smart cities to take root in the rest of the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister has said that he will discuss these options with the delegations visiting, as well as other international organizations that will be attending this summit. In addition, he has indicated that he will use his time there to meet with Singapore officials to explore how they can further increase the involvement that Singapore, with its know-how of public infrastructure and urban development, to benefit the new cities of his state.
The World Cities Summit will take place at the famous Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, and will be one of a trio of events to take place over the coming week, the other two events being the Singapore International Water Week, and the CleanEnviro Summit Singapore.
