Thailand yesterday confirmed that a 73-year-old woman who was treated in a hospital in Nakhon Pathom was the first Thai woman to be infected with the Wuhan corona virus, the Bangkok Post reports.
The health ministry said the woman got sick after returning from Wuhan late last year. She was treated in Nakhon Pathom. Health officials confirmed that she was infected with the new strain of coronavirus.
Four cases have now been reported in Thailand with wuhan corona virus- three Chinese tourists and one Thai.
The second infected Chinese tourist is cured and has returned home, the Department of Disease Control said yesterday.
Dr. Sophon Iamsirithavorn, the director, said the 74-year-old Chinese came to Thailand from Wuhan on January 13. Upon arrival, she was quarantined with a fever and tests confirmed that she was carrying the 2019 nCoV virus.
