Shooting in Florida Yoga Class; 2 Dead

In a bizarre turn of events at a place that is supposed to help calm the soul and soothe the body, a lone gunman is reported to have opened fire in a yoga studio in Tallahassee, Florida. He shot several of the people practicing yoga in the studio at the time, but was set upon by the members of the class and ended up taking his own life. Two of the women he shot have died from the shooting. They are 21-year-old Maura Binkley and 61-year-old Nancy Van Vessem. The shooter has been identified as Scott Beierle, a 40-year-old man.

Five people were wounded in addition to the two women who lost their lives, but as of the time of this report, three were reported to have been discharged from a local hospital, with the remaining two being in a stable condition and receiving the necessary medical attention.

The police have attempted to find any links between the shooter and the victims, as well as trying to ascertain whether or not he acted alone. So far, they have found that he did not have any accomplices, or was not part of a larger scheme of violent acts that could further jeopardize the community. Speaking about the gunman having acted individually, Police Chief Michael DeLeo of the Tallahassee Police Department said, “All evidence points to a single actor who has stayed on scene and is deceased at this time so there is no additional threat to the public.”
