Nagarjuna to do Light-Hearted Comedy

In a new movie that is being directed by Sriram Adittya, Telugu movie star Nagarjuna has said that it will launch him into the same cinematic territory as Sanjay Dutt-starrer, Munnabhai. The Hindi movie by Raj Kumar Hirani was noted for its uniquely comical take on a gangster with a heart of gold as he went about trying to prove his worth to his own parents who believed him to be a doctor. This new film will see him team up with Nani yet again, and as Nagarjuna puts it, will see him playing the role of a gangster, while his co-star will play the gangster’s doctor. According to Nagarjuna, “It is a very warm-hearted funny script. And I’ve a feeling director Sriram Adittya will make something special out of it.”

In another statement, the Telugu star stated that he had no issues with movies that paired him opposite another main hero character, two-hero movies, as they are commonly referred to. Reiterating his comfort for being part of such projects, he went on to say, “I’ve never in my career felt threatened by the presence of any other actor. Earlier I was mostly doing solo-hero films in Telugu because that was what was offered to me.” He went on to add that he looked forward to doing more projects with his sons, Akhil Akkineni and Nag Chaitanya.

The star quashed rumours that he was part of director Priyadarshan’s upcoming project which is a biopic about the life of 16th century naval explorer Kunjali Marakkar-IV, currently titled “Makkar the Lion Of The Arabian Sea,” saying that he was approached but was still in the process of discussions, adding that he had not heard the script yet.
